Hey there and welcome to

MISS BUKOWSKI

My name is Valentina Copello, the creature behind Miss B, and I’m here to get you excited about all things literature.
Miss Bukowski is a website where you’ll find exciting, educational, thought-provoking pieces with the purpose of de-mystifying literature. Many people refrain from reading certain authors and genres because they’re considered hard, too dense, or just too complicated for “normal people” to read. You don’t need any kind of advanced education to read and enjoy Shakespeare, for example, and that’s why I’m here.

Here at Miss Bukowski, you will find intelligent storytelling that can help illuminate different aspects of the workings of society and how we, as humans, can create different realities depending on where we came from, how we were raised, and what we experienced as we grew up. You will find stories of different genres, time periods, cultures, voices, media formats. The idea is for us all to continue learning and asking ourselves questions; to develop empathy by stepping into other people’s shoes and living their stories with them.
If you have any questions, comments, concerns, jokes, anything, please do not hesitate to reach out. Thank you for always sharing your love for stories with me :)
Best,

Why Miss Bukowski?

Charles Bukowski’s body of work largely reflects on the dark underbelly of society. His texts are drenched in sex, alcohol, and violence; they’re all by-products of his life experiences and his own existentialist meditations. In order to fully understand the essence of his work, as well as the “why” behind such aggressive ideas, we need to get a picture of the times that raised Charles Bukowski.
